To be loved is to be known.
valentine's day plans, February book recommendations, black in love, newly acclaimed lover girl.
With February, the month of self-love, flowers (yes, plastic flowers count), galentine events, chocolates, sweet sweet words, memorable dates, cheating partners getting exposed, situationships getting hotter (leave that man alone, Savannah), grand gestures, and everything in between coming around, I thought to share what I will be consuming through February as a newly acclaimed lover girl š„.
Itās been a couple of weeks since I decided that I am a lover girlāit was more of a declaration to myself. I decided I am a lover girl, NOT āI will try to be a lover girl.ā Those remarkable words interestingly came from a woman who detested the word āloveā just last year.
One of my intentions for 2025 is to grow into love and be lovedāto be in love with myself, receive love from my friends, and be in love with them.
One of my friends mentioned that to be loved is to be known. He quoted this to me because I still struggle with sharing information about myself, especially when facing a difficult situation. Not to sound like a broken record, but I want to be deeply in love with my people. I need it.
If anyone has spent most of their life not knowing how to love, how did you navigate growing into receiving love and loving your people?
Before I get way too personal, let's get into my February media consumption š„.
š Starting with books, I have seen some chatter about people interested in reading more āBlack in Loveā books. If you need recommendations, I highly highly recommend these:
A Black in Love book you thoroughly enjoyed?
š Personally, these are the books I will be reading in February:
š§ What I will be listening to: I made a playlist.
I would love it if you give it a listen. Also, if youād love to share recommendations with me, kindly
š„ What I will be watching: If I can watch movies/ shows (capitalism kills the cinephile), I will be deeply immersed in old romcoms. I love them so so much.
Some of my personal favourites: āThink Like a Man āNottinghillā, ā10 Things I Hate About Youā, āHitchā, āWhat a Girl Wantsā, āBrown Sugarā, āHow to Lose a Guy in 10 Daysā, āThe Reboundā, etc.
Do you have any recommendations I need to check out?
Some of Anomaās little enjoyments:
š I started reading an article every day. I shared some of them on my Twitter if youād love to check them out.
š Got gorgeous flowers.
š» I had a challenging conversation with a friend. It was scary.
What are some of your little enjoyments?
Thank you for reading; I hope you have a love-filled February with much to look forward to. Happy New Month in advance, š¹.
With love,
Anoma.
Anoma, this is so beautiful. I love āloveā. Iāll be spending it alone and Iāll be listening to your music recommendations.
