Hello, friends! Happy New Year!
Welcome to “My Weekly," a weekly edition on the recap of my week—moments I enjoyed, food I wanted, books I am reading, shows I watched, articles I read, or just random fun facts about how my week went.
Before we dive into this week’s recap, how is your new year starting?
I did not take time off this holiday, so I have been working through it apart from the bank holidays. I also published two newsletters on reviewing the year and on goal-setting. If you haven't done either, I promise you should steal my processes.
I also made Fulani boho braids, and I absolutely love them. I have had this colour on my Pinterest board for quite some time.

I was initially not sure about the colour against my dark skin. Now that I have it on my scalp, I absolutely love it (I know I said this already). For the girlies who asked and were curious, the attachment is colour 30.
This week was New Year’s week; with it came the need to shed habits, pick up new ones, set intentions, learn to breathe, and be more open to living. I am a bit scared of the new year, but I started the year alone with my Bible, thoughts, and thoughtful messages from family, friends, and community members. I also ate some grapes at midnight (not for any successful romantic prospects in 2025, but for more MONEY).
I also had an awesome evening with an online friend who is actually a family friend IRL - I found out that our families are actually really close and we have a couple of mutual friends - such a f small world.

We had dinner at Bananatree, hot drinks at Dark Sugars (one of my favourite places to go to in London) and drinks at Oliver’s Jazz Cafe.
Lastly, I saw “We Live in Time” at the Odeon with Clare yesterday. It is such a fantastic movie. And I cried. I highly recommend you go and see it.
👩🏾💻Anoma’s interesting things:
📚I started reading “My Year of Rest and Relaxation” by Ottessa Moshfegh. The protagonist is a 26-year-old woman who has decided to take the year off to sleep. She is an orphan with a shit-ton of inherited money from her parents. For the year, all she wants to do is sleep and take drugs to sleep further.
📽️I am currently watching Veronica Mars. I just finished season 1, and oh my! Veronica Mars is a classic TV series (and later a movie) that follows Veronica, a witty and sharp high school student turned private investigator in the fictional town of Neptune, California. She solves crimes ranging from murder, dog-napping, theft, and rape while a high school student.
Wallace Fennel: "Do you even know how to play poker?"
Veronica: "No, but it must be really hard if all you guys play it."
📹I also found three amazing female YouTubers. In 2025, one of my intentions is to consume more long-form content, such as video diaries and vlogs on YouTube.
Shahd Batal is a Sudanese-American beauty and lifestyle YouTuber. She has built a large following through makeup tutorials, hair routines, and insights into being a Muslim woman in America.
Alia Zaita is a Romanian-American YouTuber and content creator recognised for her captivating lifestyle and vlogs.
Moya Mawhinney is a Northern Irish YouTuber known for her lifestyle, fashion, and travel vlogs.
Thank you for reading through. If you have any suggestions on topics or questions you want me to answer, kindly leave a comment. I am more than happy to write a long article to answer your questions. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
