Anoma's February 2024 in Review.
Feb. 2024 | Highlights.
Hello, Friends.
Happy New Month đĽł, my people. I actually cannot believe that we are already in March. 2024, in my opinion, is moving faster than Usain Bolt. In this edition, Iâd love to briefly talk about how February went. Books I read, my media features, podcast of the month, etc.
Before we get into it, Iâd love to thank the sponsor of todayâs newsletter, Coddy.tech. Knowing how to code is predicted to be one of the most valuable skills anyone can have in 2024. Not only can you likely gain financial freedom from knowing how to code, but you also get to improve your critical thinking, technical, and problem-solving skills.
I personally met with one of the co-founders of coddy.tech; his inspiring story on why and how they started coddy.tech is one of the reasons I agreed to partner with them. They are transforming the process of learning how to code into an engaging, fun, and game-like experience. One of the highlights for me is the âAI Enhanced feature" embedded in the IDE, which will literally tell you in detail what your code is about.
The website also provides additional perks, such as helping you practice for your coding interview, end-to-end guided projects you can work on, and more.
If one of your goals this year is to become a data analyst, software engineer, or just interested in learning how to code, you should use my code âAnoma20â to get 20% off when you upgrade to premium.
Now, into Februaryâs recap. If there is one word Iâd use to describe February, itâd be âcooking.â I like to think that I really âcookedâ in February.

I know there are numerous definitions of âwhen someone is cookingâ; there is a literal definition, which is âactually cooking food,â but mine is âworkingâworking on my goals.â I think I cooked with the books I read, my work with Women in Data Africa, a couple of wins, the shows, podcasts, and movies I listened to or watched, and more. Letâs get into properly recapping February.
Media Features;
I had a wholesome conversation with Rhoda about my journey into tech and how it is going. I think you should check it out; a couple of people (they might have been lying to me) said it was valuable, inspiring, and insightful.
February Reads:
I read 4 books in February.
âWhat you are looking for is in the libraryâ by âMichiko Aoyamaâ which was translated into English by Watts. It was shortlisted for the âJapan Booksellersâ Award.â This is an amazing book on short stories. You should read it if you are feeling stuck in life or trying to make a decision about what to do next in life. Rating: âď¸âď¸âď¸.

âIkigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Lifeâ by âHector Garcia and Francesc Mirallesâ. This book will give you the life-changing tools to uncover your personal ikigai. It will show you how to leave urgency behind, find your purpose, nurture friendships, and throw yourself into your passions. Rating: âď¸âď¸âď¸.

I am obsessed with everything Ali Hazelwood writes. If she writes it, I am buying and reading. I reread âLove Theoreticallyâ in February and read âBrideâ which she released in February. I am a bit biased, so Iâd always give her a 5-star rating. Rating: âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸. P.S. I read these on my kindle.
Podcast of the month:
Diary of a CEO with âHingeâs Founderâ. Nothing prepared me for this conversation. It was wholesome. I laughed, almost cried, jumped around, got goosebumps, got inspired, and also learned a lotttttttt. Some gems include: growing a business from scratch, failing, the struggles that come with love, relentless self-confidence in what you want to do, not giving up even when the whole world is against you, how a business runs, and more.
One of my self-care activities is listening to peopleâs stories. Listening to how they went from A to B, then to C and maybe to D, but back to A instead of E. I love listening to interviews and conversations, especially from people I know I might genuinely never meet or have a conversation with. This means that I have listened to a LOT of conversations, especially from âThe Diary of a CEOâ and I think this is my best so far. I loved the humility with which Justin spoke about his experience and his vulnerability when he spoke about his heartbreak and drug and alcohol addiction. Go listen to the conversation; write to me if you equally loved it.
Randoms:
Iâd be a part of the UN Women UK CSW68 âInternational Womenâs Dayâ celebration this month. I am super excited about it. Me đŤąđ˝âđŤ˛đż womenâs matters.

I inhaled and exhaled a lot of times this month, lol. Plus, I started wearing âgingerâ again. Contemplating actually going full on ginger.
In my community, we consistently churn out amazing newsletters. I think you should read and subscribe if you are interested in building a career in data.

I went to the gym about 10 times, which was a win. This means that I woke up by 4:50am on these days to go to the gym, whewww.
I watched âMr. and Mrs. Smith,â the new show, and omgggg. I am gagged; it was really, really good, lol.
Anime: I am watching âThe Acquatope on White Sand.â
I fell in love. Lol, I fell in love with âOne Day," the Netflix-adapted series.
TED Talks: My favorite for the month of February was âWhy Stay in Chernobyl?â by Holly Morris.
I attended about 4 Tech networking events. Great, great experience all through. 10/10.

Thank you so much for reading my February recap. Iâd really love to know how your February went.
I hope you have a great March. I hope it is filled with greatness, goodness, and everything you desire. Happy New Month, đĽł.
