Maybe the happy ending is that you...
My weekly, a mini Gizdodo recipe, media consumption of the week, + is she back?
Song of the week: Shine by Cleo Sol.
Hello, Friends.
I hope you are well and your week went well. I know it’s been a while since I wrote to you. I apologise for my inconsistencies. But, I think I am back. As you might have noticed, I changed the name of the newsletter from “Aspiring Nerd” to my name, “Anoma”—no other reason than my growing disinterest in the word “aspiring.” +, I kinda like the name “Anoma”.
For a while, I have been knee-deep with constantly asking myself questions that feel like the relationship I have with mouth sores every time they come - “Am I in the right place?”, “Am I doing the right thing?”, “Am I making mistakes again?”, “Am I following the right path?” Painful yet I keep poking at them. I will never know is the lazy conclusion I came to yesterday. I will never actually know the answers to these questions in the moment. So, instead of battering myself with questions, I am choosing to live life. A very simple solution, one might say, I guess we will find out.
🔖 My Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T:
R. Reading: “Someday, Maybe” by Onyi Nwabineli. I have felt emotions that I haven’t experienced before. Nerve-wrecking but enjoyable nonetheless.
E. Eating: I ate a lot of plantains over the weekend and throughout the week. Fried plantain, boiled plantain, Gizdodo (a mixture of gizzards and plantains) and Boli (roasted plantain). One might suggest that I am now really good at making Gizdodo; I agree.
P. Playing: Played with some of my old and current teammates over delicious Chinese food, banter and nostalgia.
O. Obsessed with: Plantain? Haha.
R. Recommending: Watching Love, Robots and Death in preparation for the next season.
T. Treating myself to: Going to the movies to watch Sinners with friends this evening.
📀 Some media I enjoyed consuming this week:
A Substack article on wanting to do everything but doing nothing
A Substack article on letting people wonder about you:
The Making of Vogue’s Met Gala Issue:
James Simons - Mathematics, Common Sense, and Good Luck:

Maybe the happy ending is that you fall in love with yourself a bit more, eat your favourite foods, hang out with people who make you feel your purest, dance to your favourite songs, and buy yourself flowers.
I hope you have a great week, taking care of yourself a bit more selfishly.
- Anoma 💐.
