I broke my "no-drinking" coffee streak.
my weekly, new music, drinking coffee, media consumption.
For many, this week marked the start of work for the year, but for those of us who work in finance, it was merely the continuation of the previous year with little to no blur of a “new work week.”
And, with the new week came new resolutions for me, such as quitting drinking coffee 🤡.
See, I noticed that I had become overreliant on coffee. Having 3-4 cups a day, which in turn messed with my sleep schedule.
I was barely getting sleep, my dark circles getting darker by the day, my anxiety spiking with each cup, but I couldn’t stay away from the smell of a new cup of coffee, the familiarity of taste, the bitter aftertaste, the alertness that came with each cup, and then there was the kick—haha, what does this even mean?
I broke my streak after about 2 weeks yesterday (10th, Jan. 2025). I had two cups back to back—I liked drinking again. I think because I hadn't had a cup in a while, it made me really appreciative of the “innovation” of caffeine.
I wrote about tips/habits you can start adopting to reduce doomscrolling:
👩🏾💻Media I consumed this week:
Scrolled through Substack. Substack is becoming my little happy place.
I discovered the artist Rubii. My favourite song of hers at the moment:
I published 10 things you can do today instead of doomscrolling.
I watched Brown Sugar and Just Wright.
I guess I am in my black rom-com era.Saved the last for the best, I listened to White Ferrari only about 10 times every day this week. And I am absolutely obsessed. I am always grateful to God for creators.
What I enjoyed this week:
I have been craving yam and eggs for a while now. So, I made that with the most delicious fried plantains, Yum.
Listening to Rubii.
Debugging with my mentor, John, until 10:30 pm.
Drinking coffee again.
Talking to my friend, Deborah.
